My Experiments with Reflection: A Journey Within (BLOG)

      Ms. Preeti Nair

Over the past two years, I have come to understand reflection not just as a practice, but as an experiment—an intentional, repeated way of looking at my experiences to discover, question, and sometimes challenge what I believe to be true. Inspired by The Story of My Experiments with Truth, I found myself drawn to the idea that every experience, even the difficult and uncomfortable ones, carries the potential to teach, transform, and strengthen us.

Through journaling, conversations with peers, and rewriting my own stories, I have tested the validity of my assumptions and confronted the parts of myself I often overlook. These small experiments have been incomplete, personal, and sometimes messy—yet they have been honest attempts to understand my learning more deeply. What emerged was a clearer awareness of how truth evolves when I pause, reflect, and look inward with sincerity.

The DIKW model—moving from data to wisdom path —became evident in my own journey. Simple experiences (data) turned into observations (information), which shaped my understanding (knowledge), and finally commenced my small experiences towards attaining the wisdom path when I applied these insights to my life as an educator and a learner.
The book reminded me that living truthfully requires patience, humility, and resilience. It is not about perfection, but about striving each day to act with integrity and compassion. As I continue this journey of lifelong learning, I hope to guide others with the same honesty and empathy that reflection has gifted me.
